  • Usually grows along freshwater creeklines.
  • Growth rate increases proportionally with salinity. ┬áThe high salt tolerance of Callistemon makes this genus very interesting as an ornamental plant suitable for saline soils and coastal areas (1).
  • Callistemon phoeniceus has a very low association (<4%) with ectomycorrhizal fungi (2)
  • Sensitive to atmospheric fluoride (3) so if airport brickworks starts emitting fluoride, watch this plant!
